Licensed in real estate since 2001, Richard Shelton first joined Kelly, Realtors in 2005 and has since returned with a renewed commitment to serving Central Texas. He brings deep local knowledge, a collaborative spirit, and a genuine appreciation for Waco to every client relationship. Richard Shelton is a native Wacoan, whose career has been shaped by service, entrepreneurship, and deep community roots. A product of local formative schools, and later on local higher education institutions, Richard was also immersed in local small-business life from an early age. He worked at his grandfather’s long-running business, an equipment repair company at 5th and Franklin—a family-owned enterprise- served Waco for more than three decades by repairing cash registers, adding machines, and typewriters. That legacy of diligence, integrity, and reliability continues to guide Richard’s approach to real estate today.

Richard also comes from a family committed to public service. His grandfather served as a fireman for the city of Waco, and his father was a Woodway Volunteer Fire Chief, both examples of leadership and dedication. Early in his career, Richard gained hands-on experience across a range of local industries, including work as a proofreader and printer at Texian Press and nearly a decade as manager of a local store. He also spent several summers surveying with a local civil engineering firm and working in the McLennan County Clerk’s Office, sharpening his attention to detail and understanding of local records and infrastructure.

An entrepreneur at heart, Richard founded and operated Premier Motors on South Valley Mills Drive for close to a decade. His years in the automotive and motorcycle industry, and his own passion for recreational riding, reflect his discipline, persistence, and commitment to excellence.

Beyond business, Richard is a talented musician and educator. A drummer since age five, he studied went through the classical and commercial music program at McLennan Community College and has performed with numerous bands across multiple genres. Over the years, he has played at many of Waco’s most notable venues and events, including Barnett’s, Cultivate 7twelve, the HOT Fair, and the Waco Civic Theatre. He has also shared his passion for music by teaching more than a dozen students.

Richard is an Advanced Grand Master disc golfer and a long-standing member of the Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA) since 1994. He regularly plays courses throughout Waco and Central Texas—especially in Cameron Park—and has competed in the Waco Annual Charity Open, supporting the Humane Society.
